Wilmington Pickleball Invitational: In a thrilling conclusion to the inaugural Community Pickleball Invitational, Clayton Amburgy and Austin Faucett, known as the Chefs in the Kitchen, emerged victorious on Saturday. The event took place at the Wilmington High School tennis courts. Amburgy and Faucett displayed exceptional skill and teamwork, ultimately defeating their rivals, the Dudes—Marci Sodini and David Becker.

Third Place and Competition Overview

Claiming third place were the Southside duo, Josh Schlabach and Terri Schlabach. The tournament saw participation from 16 teams, highlighting the competitive spirit and community involvement. “It was a community feel with players from East Clinton, Clinton-Massie, Wilmington College, and Wilmington High School,” remarked Judah Jamiel, the tournament organizer and head coach of the Wilmington High School girls basketball team.

Support and Volunteer Efforts

The event was made possible thanks to sponsorship from Rome Jewelers, Drayer Physical Therapy, and the Harpin Family. Jamiel expressed gratitude for the contributions of the Wilmington High School girls basketball team members—Aidynne Tippett, Addison Martin, Miya Nance, Auna Hudson, Alli Bayless, Ki Cole, and Brynn Conley. The tournament also saw support from basketball coaches Bourke Greene, Gary Sheldon, and Carlos Roberts, who volunteered their time.
