Southern Indiana Pickleball Palooza: The Southern Indiana Pickleball Palooza is set to make its return this Sunday in New Albany, offering a full day of activities for enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Now in its second year, the event will take place at Sam Peden Community Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free to the public.

The day kicks off with “Pickleball 101,” a beginner-friendly session running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., designed to introduce newcomers of all ages to the fundamentals of the game. This instructional session will be complemented by a Pickleball market featuring local vendors, food trucks, and other attractions that are set to create a festive atmosphere.

The event’s highlight is the highly anticipated Pickleball challenge match between Team Clark County and Team Floyd County. Scheduled from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., the match will showcase some of the best players from each county, competing under the same rules and conditions as Major League Pickleball.

“We’ve got the best players from each county that we could get together to form a team.” – (Matt Denison, Floyd County’s Parks and Recreation Superintendent)

Reflecting on the event’s growth, Denison emphasizes the sport’s rapid rise locally.

“This is the second annual event for us. Pickleball is booming, and we’ve tried to be the leader locally in Pickleball programming for the community. We’re covering a lot of ground here, from beginners to those who have been playing for years.” – (Denison)
