According to Nick Darby, Special Events Coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department, the sport has seen explosive growth, with 500 participants in local pickleball games. Known for its accessibility and similarity to tennis, pickleball has captured the interest of a broad audience. York is also home to York Paddle Tennis and Pickleball Club and Seacoast Pickleball, adding to the area’s pickleball fervor.
