Pickle Pad Partners with Special Olympics for Inclusive Pickleball

Pickle Pad Partners with Special Olympics: The Pickle Pad, a prominent pickleball facility, has taken a significant step toward inclusivity by partnering with the Special Olympics. This collaboration provides free court access to the Special Olympics pickleball team on a weekly basis, aiming to enhance community engagement and broaden the sport’s accessibility.

Elevating Player Experience

Pickleball, known for its social and inclusive nature, has been a source of joy and development for many. “It helped me be able to become a better player, and a better athlete,” shared Josh, a Special Olympics player. “How to hit the ball and I learn how to be able to practice and I learn how to be able to focus.” This sentiment highlights the transformative impact the sport can have on players of all abilities.

Community Support and Appreciation

Coach Linda expressed her amazement at the team’s progress. “These young adults are killing it! They’re hitting the ball, and making points, and we’re standing there oh my goodness, I can’t believe you just did that.” This enthusiasm is mirrored by Smith, who praised the opportunity for players to hone their skills and build camaraderie. “They love life, they love one another, and they are contributing and participating and they are rich and full and it’s a celebration of life for sure,” Smith said.

A Business with a Purpose

Kyle Maddox of The Pickle Pad emphasized the importance of community involvement. “As a business in general, it’s important to be grounded in your community,” he noted. This commitment to local support is evident in the positive impact seen by the players, who appreciate the chance to be active and engaged. “I see them being social, I see them enjoying one another, I see them encouraging one another,” Smith added.
