Known for its stunning hot springs and picturesque surroundings, the town promises to offer more than just pickleball. Players will compete on eight outdoor courts, with a surface designed specifically for the game. The event will follow a round robin format, ensuring plenty of match play across multiple skill levels.
Tournament Format and Divisions
The tournament will feature brackets for skill levels ranging from 2.5 in the women’s division to 4.5 for all players. A round robin format will provide plenty of competition. Brackets may be merged depending on registration numbers, but players can expect a well-organized event. Women’s doubles will take place on Friday, September 13, followed by mixed doubles on Saturday, and men’s doubles wrapping up the event on Sunday.
Each division follows a clear structure:
- 1-3 teams: Combined with other brackets.
- 4-7 teams: Round Robin to 11 points.
- 8+ teams: Split into two pools with playoffs for the top teams.
Tournament Director Jon Barker shared, “We’re committed to creating an inclusive experience for players at every level. The flexibility in our format allows us to adapt and ensure everyone gets their fair share of competition.”
Player Amenities and Fees
With tournament registration fees set at $45 for one event or $60 for two, participants will have access to a wide range of amenities. Players will receive swag bags, and lunch will be provided daily. An optional Saturday evening dinner is available for $20, along with a silent auction showcasing “amazing items,” as organizers describe it. Pagosa Pickleball Club members also enjoy a $5 discount on registration fees. Free parking is available along the courts and across the street.
Barker added, “We want everyone to feel like they’re getting more than just a tournament—this is a chance to enjoy everything Pagosa Springs has to offer.”
Registration and Refund Policy
Registration is currently open, with slots being filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will need to register both players on their teams within five days to secure their spot. The final registration deadline is September 6, 2024, at 9 p.m. Refunds will be available up to two weeks before the tournament’s close, though a $15 processing fee will apply.
Notably, no refunds will be given due to weather or unforeseen events, a policy in line with outdoor tournaments. The ball in use will be the Franklin X-40, and all skill levels are welcome.
