Plover’s Pickleball Courts Are Getting a Makeover—But Will It Really Change the Game for Local Players?

Plover’s Pickleball Courts Are Getting a Makeover: Village officials have announced that the tennis and pickleball courts at Little Plover River Park will be temporarily closed for resurfacing and restriping from Monday, September 16, through Friday, September 20. The exact timeline is weather-dependent. The park features two courts that accommodate both sports, and this upgrade is set to improve their condition and usability.

Funding and Scope

Scott Klemm, Plover’s public works manager, revealed that the $28,000 resurfacing project will be financed through the village’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation. “We’re just resurfacing the courts; this was a planned project,” Klemm stated. The resurfacing aims to enhance the playing surface, ensuring a better experience for users.

Cleaning and Preparation

Ryan Wilson of Arrow Precision Asphalt Maintenance commenced work on the project on Friday, utilizing a specialized machine to clean the court surface. “It’s just covered in gunk,” Wilson remarked while demonstrating the difference made by the initial cleaning pass. He anticipates completing the cleaning phase on Friday, after which he will apply a sealant and two coats of color to the courts.

Final Remarks

This is pretty much our last parks project for the season,” Klemm noted. The resurfacing is expected to wrap up the park’s improvement projects for the year, aiming to have the courts ready for use as soon as possible.
