Pickleball Courts Upgrade at Washington Park: Casper Council’s $397K Project and What It Means

Pickleball Courts Upgrade at Washington Park: The Casper City Council has greenlit a $397,688 contract to upgrade Washington Park with new pickleball courts. The approved contract covers the design and construction of a post-tension slab and surfacing to convert the park’s southern tennis courts. Denver-based LER Inc., operating as Renner Sports Services, will undertake the project.

According to city documents, LER was the sole bidder. The funding for this initiative will be sourced from the Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant, supplemented by the One Cent Funds allocated for parks.

Restroom Upgrade Change Order

In addition, the council authorized a $1,090 change order with Crown Construction LLC. This adjustment includes wiring for electrical flush valves, piping, and drain down valves necessary for weatherization. The change order extends the project’s completion timeline by 39 days and removes certain tasks from the scope, such as handicap signs and asphalt striping, which will be handled by City Parks and Streets staff. This is the third change order for the project, with previous adjustments totaling $4,835 from contingency funds.

Funding Breakdown

The project is financed through a 50–50 split between the Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant and city funds, ensuring a balanced approach to funding the park’s upgrades.
