New Pickleball Facilities at Norton Sports Center Ignites Celebration

New Pickleball Facilities at Norton Sports Center: Pickleball’s surge in popularity has led to an exciting development in WAVE Country. On Tuesday, Norton Sports and Learning Center unveiled 12 state-of-the-art pickleball courts, marking a significant expansion for the facility.

Generous Donation Drives Expansion

The addition of these courts was made possible by a substantial $200,000 donation from the Humana Foundation. This investment underscores the Foundation’s commitment to promoting diverse sports and making recreational activities more accessible.

Inclusive Vision for Sports

Officials at Norton are enthusiastic about integrating pickleball into their offerings. “We’re trying to help ensure that whatever we create is accessible to everybody, but also can be used for a lot of different purposes. We want people to get excited about pickleball, but if you want to get excited about basketball too, that’s great. What we really want is for everybody to see, there is a piece for activity for them in whatever you’re doing here,” said Tiffany Benjamin, CEO of the Humana Foundation.

Growing Popularity

This new facility comes amid a booming interest in pickleball, with an estimated 36.5 million players in the U.S. this year. The expansion reflects the sport’s growing appeal and the increasing demand for dedicated playing spaces.
