Pickleball and More’s Grand Opening in Dartmouth Marks New Era

Pickleball and More’s Grand Opening: With pickleball surging in popularity across the United States, a new facility in Dartmouth is making headlines as it celebrates its grand opening. Nearly 48 million Americans, including many older adults, are now enjoying America’s fastest-growing sport. Pickleball and More, which took over the Big Value Outlet Plaza in South Dartmouth last summer, has spent the past year refining its offerings and giving the plaza a significant facelift.

Expanding Beyond Pickleball

Although Pickleball and More had a soft opening last fall, the facility has been busy expanding its range of activities. Besides offering pickleball courts, the venue now features three badminton nets, six cornhole sets, three dart boards, three ping-pong tables, and a variety of other games, including kickball, dodgeball, and Spec Tennis. This diverse array of activities aims to attract a broad audience, making it a versatile recreational hub.

Innovative Court Design

The pickleball courts at Pickleball and More are designed to mimic the feel of outdoor courts, yet they are crafted from paint and recycled, crushed rubber tires. This innovative surface is intended to reduce impact on players’ knees, legs, and feet. The wiffle ball-like ball used in the game helps slow the pace, making it accessible and enjoyable for players of all ages and skill levels.

Grand Opening Event

To mark its official grand opening, Pickleball and More is hosting a Grand Celebration event this weekend. Manager Suzette Aubuchan explained the reason for the timing of the grand opening: “It was really just to get our feet wet,” she said. “We did a soft opening over Veteran’s Day last November. That event was to introduce us into the community, but we wanted to show off the other games we have beyond pickleball.” The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 2 PM.
