Unique Pickleball Event for 50+ Players Promises Fun and Connection in Lynchburg

Unique Pickleball Event: On October 5th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Crosswhite Athletic Club in Lynchburg will serve as the venue for a unique pickleball event tailored for players aged 50 and older. Located at 118 Davis Cup Road, this gathering, organized by AARP Virginia, promises a vibrant atmosphere where competition meets camaraderie.

A Friendly Format

Participants will engage in co-ed matches, with players randomly assigned to starting spots and partners. This format builds a spirit of friendly competition, allowing individuals to meet new people while enjoying the game they love.

After each match, the setup encourages movement and collaboration: winners will advance to a “higher” court, while those who lose will shift down to a “lower” one. This rotation ensures everyone experiences different dynamics and strategies on the court.

Crowning the Champions

At the event’s conclusion, prizes will be awarded to those who successfully navigate their way up to court #1, affectionately dubbed the King & Queen’s Court. It’s not just about winning; it’s about the journey of skill-building and social interaction, both vital for overall well-being.

Fostering Health and Connection

AARP Virginia emphasizes the importance of healthy behaviors and social connections, particularly for maintaining cognitive function as one ages. Participants can look forward to a final gathering where the benefits of engaging in such activities will be discussed, alongside a celebration of the day’s achievements. AARP will provide water and healthy snacks to keep everyone refreshed and energized throughout the event.
