Pickled Pink Pickleball Tournament: The upcoming Pickled Pink event is ready to make a significant impact this October, supporting the Breast Care Program at UVA Cancer Center.

Scheduled for Sunday, October 13, from 1 PM to 3:30 PM at Boar’s Head Sport Club, the Pickled Pink tournament promises an afternoon of spirited competition. This mixed round-robin event welcomes players of all skill levels—Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Participants will enjoy a lively atmosphere while contributing to a vital cause.

A Mission Born from Personal Experience

Founded in 2022 by local pickleball enthusiasts and breast cancer survivors Lisa Wayand and Kelly Johnston, Pickled Pink has grown into a testament to resilience and community spirit. Over its first two years, the event has raised more than $25,000 for the UVA Breast Care Program. Wayand emphasized the event’s significance beyond just pickleball, stating,

“Our mission is to make a real impact on someone’s life.”

Making a Difference

All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the UVA Cancer Center, furthering groundbreaking research, clinical care, and medical education. The funds raised ensure that UVA can continue offering top-tier expertise to every patient and their family. “Your support helps advance the innovative research and care we’re known for,” Wayand added, highlighting the importance of community involvement.

Join the Cause

Every contribution, big or small, plays a role in this vital initiative. Participants and donors are encouraged to keep track of the tournament’s progress as they work together to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer care.
