Lima’s Grand Pickleball Fundraiser Tournament: Area pickleball players gathered on Sunday for a spirited competition aimed at supporting two local organizations. The 2nd Annual Allen County Pickleball Tournament, hosted by Habitat for Humanity and the Lima Fire Department, saw over 40 participants registered to compete. This year, organizers introduced a new bracket dedicated solely to beginners, encouraging wider community involvement.
Supporting Local Initiatives
The funds raised from the pickleball tournament will be shared between Habitat for Humanity and the Lima Fire Department. The Lima Fire Department plans to utilize its share to construct a miniature fire station for the Lima Noon Optimist Club’s Safety City.
“Between the funds from last year and then the funds from this year, and then we’re really appreciative of Superior for sponsoring our event today and putting some money that will also go towards that, we still have some ways to go.” – (Caleb Farmer, the volunteer manager for Habitat for Humanity Lima Area)
Ongoing Community Support
Farmer emphasized the ongoing need for donations and volunteers, stating that Habitat for Humanity is always looking for support to help with this project and others.
“We’re continually accepting donations to help us be able to hopefully start that in the spring.” – (Farmer)
