For Fournet, a cancer diagnosis can be life-altering, describing it as an event that “kind of just makes your world stop.” This rare form of leukemia was once associated with a grim prognosis, with survival rates historically below 10%. However, advancements in clinical trials and research have significantly changed the landscape of treatment.
Hope Through Research
Thanks to groundbreaking treatment and participation in a clinical trial at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Fournet is now fully cancer-free. “The clinical trial I was a part of has a current survival rate of 97%,” she shares, highlighting the progress made over the years. The journey through her diagnosis not only tested her resilience but also showed the importance of support systems.
Giving Back to the Community
Having relied on the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for vital resources, including information, support, and financial assistance during her treatment, Fournet and her husband are now committed to giving back. They aim to rally their community through a fun and engaging event.
