Pickleball Tournament in Montville: Montville Community Park transformed into a hub of excitement last Saturday, September 21, as 14 competitive teams took to the courts for the 2nd Annual Dink and Donate Pickleball Charity Tournament. This year’s event, skillfully hosted by the Rosenberg Real Estate Group and Kiwanis of Montville, successfully raised $2,000 for local causes. The pickleball tournament not only highlighted fierce competition but also showed the vibrant pickleball community spirit and generous giving that Montville is known for.
Champions Crowned
Team Hot Shots, captained by Lou Nosti and Jim Witterschein, emerged victorious, claiming the championship title along with a donation for their chosen charity, St. Jude. Meanwhile, Team Dabal, led by Michele and Greg Dabal, secured a commendable second place. Vin Reddy and Brandon Martinez, representing Team VRPT Pinebrook, rounded out the top three, their performance made even more memorable by the cheers of their adorable mascot, Tico.
The pickleball tournament’s success translates directly into meaningful contributions, with St. Jude receiving a donation of $1,300 to further their life-changing work for children battling pediatric cancer. Additionally, the Montville Kiwanis will benefit from a $700 donation, enabling them to continue their vital work through the food pantry and programs designed to support local children.
A Day of Energy and Engagement
Hunt for Strength, a standout sponsor, not only contributed financially but also energized the crowd with a thrilling pre-game warm-up session, setting an upbeat tone for the day. Emcee Nancy DeNicola from Loan Depot kept spirits high, distributing over $500 in prizes and ensuring that the excitement never waned.
Key sponsors, including Blue Nail Exteriors, Julian Garcia Images, Tease Salon, and Ghost Pest Control, played critical roles in enhancing the day’s impact. Special recognition goes to Pickleball Palace for expertly facilitating the tournament and ensuring that the experience was memorable for all involved.
