Big Bend Pickleball Fall Frenzy Promises Epic Matches and Community Impact

The Big Bend Pickleball Fall Frenzy is set to kick off from October 25th to October 27th, 2024, at Daniel B. Chaires Park in Tallahassee, Florida. More than just a pickleball tournament, this event comes with a charitable mission—helping those impacted by Hurricane Helene. With age and skill divisions ranging from 2.5 to 4.5+, the Fall Frenzy promises three days of fast-paced action, bringing together players for a good cause.

Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

In a unique twist, the Fall Frenzy is rallying to support the recovery of communities affected by Hurricane Helene, which wreaked havoc across Florida and Western North Carolina. The storm caused widespread damage, particularly in towns like Steinhatchee and Perry, while North Carolina’s mountainous regions suffered from flash floods and landslides. Players and attendees are encouraged to donate supplies such as non-perishable food, medical kits, and clothing, or provide monetary donations to trusted charities like Samaritan’s Purse and Brother Wolf.

Competitive Play for All Skill Levels

The tournament will feature a variety of skill levels, from 2.5 (recreational) to 4.5 and above, allowing players to compete at their level. Events are divided by skill and age, ensuring balanced competition. The schedule includes Women’s Doubles on Friday, Men’s Doubles on Saturday, and Mixed Doubles on Sunday, with all matches beginning as early as 8:00 AM. Teams will play at the skill level of the higher-rated player and the age group of the younger player.

Event Structure and Format

With outdoor play on eight portable courts, each player is guaranteed a minimum of four games per event. While referees will not officiate matches, teams can request one if necessary. The tournament format will be determined based on the number of registrants in each division, and organizers reserve the right to adjust the format to ensure all events are completed, including changes to match length and structure.

Registration and Refunds

Registration is priced at $55, which includes all events. Players can register with a partner or request to be paired with one. The deadline to cancel with a full refund is October 20, 2024. However, because this is an outdoor pickleball tournament, there will be no refunds for weather-related cancellations. Organizers are committed to completing all events, making any necessary adjustments to the schedule.

The Big Bend Pickleball Fall Frenzy stands out not only for its competitive atmosphere but for its focus on helping hurricane-affected communities recover. With players battling it out on the courts and donating to a worthy cause, this event promises to be more than just a game—it’s a way to give back.
