Halloween Dink or Treat Pickleball Event Promises Thrills on the Pickleball Courts, Pickleball Meets Halloween

Halloween Dink or Treat Pickleball Event: The Halloween Dink or Treat is coming to Long Beach on Sunday, October 20. This exciting event, organized by the Wrigley Association and Veloz Pickleball, invites everyone aged 12 and up to join in on the fun. It’s a chance for players of all skill levels, from beginners to pickleball fanatics, to connect and enjoy a day on the courts.

Excitement of Pickleball Clinics and Tournaments

The event will take place at the Veterans Park pickleball courts located at 101 28th Street. This community gathering is sponsored by a grant from the City of Long Beach Community Development’s Housing & Neighborhood Services Bureau. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, play pickleball, and get into the Halloween spirit!

One of the highlights of the Halloween Dink or Treat is the skill clinics led by local coach Kaleem Umari and sponsored professional players from Veloz.

These clinics will start at 8:30 a.m. and are designed for players at all levels, from kids aged 12-17 to beginners, average and advanced players. This is a perfect chance to improve the game and pick up some valuable pickleball tips.

Following the clinics, tournaments will start around 9:30 a.m. If there are enough participants at each skill level, separate tournaments will be held.

The tournament format is a sudden death bracket. This means that if a player wins, they keep playing, and if they lose, they’re out. This setup adds excitement and importance to each match, making for a thrilling day on the courts!

Special Perks for Participants

Registration for the Halloween Dink or Treat is open, but Wrigley residents will have priority. They will need to provide proof of ID with their Wrigley neighborhood address at the event. This helps create a connected community feel and ensures that local players get the first chance to participate.

The first 100 qualified participants who register will receive a free Veloz paddle and two pickleballs at the event. Winners of each tournament will also walk away with prizes.

If there aren’t enough neighbors registering, the event will open up to other local residents in the order they registered. This makes it fair and inclusive for everyone who wants to join in on the fun!
