After years of playing on a re-purposed, cramped tennis court, the Gladstone Area Pickleball Club finally has the facility of its dreams. The club is celebrating its new eight-court pickleball complex, designed with functionality and comfort in mind. Players now enjoy spacious courts, complete with a central walkway and a pavilion to rest between matches. Additionally, tall fencing surrounds the courts, keeping stray balls contained.
The Journey of the Pickleball Facility
Building the new pickleball facility took time and determination. It took three years for the pickleball club to raise the necessary $365,000 to bring the project to life.
The result is a top-notch complex that caters to pickleball players of all skill levels. Whether it’s seasoned players or beginners, the club now has plenty of room to accommodate everyone.
A Place for the Community
The new facility isn’t just for the club’s members; it’s become a gathering spot for the community. Recently, Gladstone High School approached the club with a request to start their pickleball program.
“A couple weeks ago, we had Gladstone High School approach us and they had 26 of their students that wanted to start a little pickleball club and asked if they could use our courts to do that. We’re accommodating them.” – (board member Richard Beauvais)
A Bright Future for Pickleball in Gladstone
As the Gladstone Area Pickleball Club looks ahead, the new courts symbolize more than just a space to play — they represent the community’s commitment to growing the sport. The facility is expected to draw more interest from locals and visitors, expanding the reach and accessibility of pickleball in the area.
