Transforming a Warehouse into a Sports Hub
Liz and Mike Tanji, a couple hailing from Denver, are spearheading the conversion of a vacant building located at 13423 F St. into an Ace Pickleball Club, part of a national franchise with established locations in various cities. Their ambitious plan includes the installation of 13 courts along with additional amenities designed to enhance the pickleball experience for players of all levels.
City Council Approves the Project
In a unanimous decision, the Omaha City Council voted 7-0 on Tuesday to grant a special use permit, permitting indoor sports and recreation activities at the site, which is currently zoned for industrial use. Nestled northwest of the Sam’s Club at 132nd and L Streets, the area features a mix of industrial and retail businesses, as well as a trampoline park, making it a vibrant hub for community activities.
“This will be a welcome addition with the high demand we have,” remarked City Council President Pete Festersen during the council meeting, addressing Liz Tanji directly.
