Morning Pointe’s First Pickleball Event to Benefit Dalton State Students!

Morning Pointe’s First Pickleball Event: To support education, Morning Pointe Assisted Living homes will host their first “Pickleball for a Purpose” Pickleball tournament this Saturday, October 26. The proceeds will go toward providing scholarship funds for students at Dalton State College. The event promises a day of competitive action, friendship, and, most importantly, community support.

Morning Pointe Foundation’s Mission

The Morning Pointe Foundation, the non-profit arm of the senior living provider, is committed to advancing senior care across the Southeast.

According to the Foundation’s mission, it focuses on scholarships for healthcare students, caregiver support, and educational programs that benefit seniors and their families. This pickleball event is another step toward fulfilling that mission, with a direct impact on future healthcare providers through scholarship funding.

The tournament, hosted at the City of Calhoun Recreation Department’s pickleball courts on 601 South River Street, is expected to draw a crowd of competitors and supporters.

With pickleball’s rising popularity, particularly among seniors, this event offers a fitting collaboration between senior care and education.

Locations and Commitment

Morning Pointe operates 40 assisted living locations, six of which serve the Tennessee Valley region. These locations, which will lend their name to the event, include:

  • Morning Pointe of Athens – 1025 Crestway Drive, Athens, TN
  • Morning Pointe of Hixson – 5501 Old Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN
  • The Lantern at Morning Pointe Collegedale – 9300 Messinger Ln, Ooltewah, TN
  • The Lantern at Morning Pointe Chattanooga – 7620 Shallowford Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37421
  • Morning Pointe of Chattanooga at Shallowford – 7719 Shallowford Rd., Chattanooga, TN
  • Morning Pointe at Happy Valley Rd. – Rossville, GA 30741

These communities reflect Morning Pointe’s commitment not only to senior care but also to supporting the broader communities in which they operate.

The connection between Dalton State and Morning Pointe runs deep, as many healthcare students at Dalton benefit directly from these scholarship opportunities.

The Day’s Events

The pickleball tournament will kick off at 8:00 a.m. and will feature 30 men’s doubles teams and 30 women’s doubles teams battling for medals.

The courts, known for hosting various community sports activities, are expected to be filled with energy as teams compete in the fast-paced matches that have become a hallmark of pickleball.

Registration for the tournament remains open until the day of the event, giving latecomers a chance to participate. The cost is set at $70 per team, or $35 per player, and every participant will receive a swag bag filled with event goodies.

Additionally, a hydration station will be available for players to stay refreshed throughout the day, and a food truck will offer meal options for participants and spectators.

Building Future Leaders

At its heart, this tournament is more than just a day of pickleball—it’s about investing in the future. The scholarships funded through the event will help ensure that students at Dalton State College, many of whom are pursuing careers in healthcare, can continue their education and enter the workforce with the skills they need to make a difference in senior care and beyond.
