Rotary’s Pickleball Fundraiser Challenges Polio Head-On

Rotary’s Pickleball Fundraiser: In a spirited initiative, members of the Rotary Club in the La Crosse area are taking significant steps in the global fight against polio. Their event, Pickleball for Polio, is one of many hosted by Rotary clubs worldwide in honor of World Polio Day. This fundraiser invites the community to socialize, learn the variations of pickleball, and participate in the lively queen’s court tournament.

Decades of Dedication

For 45 years, Rotary Clubs have been steadfast in their commitment to eradicating polio. Their fundraising efforts and volunteerism have proven instrumental in the ongoing battle against this debilitating disease.

“We’re about 99 percent job done. It’s eliminated in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, now it’s down to just two countries in the middle east, Pakistan and Afghanistan.” – (Kelly Dunn, the former president of the Holmen Area Rotary Club)

Aiming for Success

The Pickleball for Polio event has set an ambitious goal, aiming to raise $5,000. The stakes are higher, as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has pledged to match every dollar raised at a two-to-one ratio, amplifying the impact of the community’s contributions in this vital cause.
