Halloween Glow Pickleball Takes Over Kankakee with Spooky Fun

Halloween Glow Pickleball Takes Over Kankakee: Just as the leaves turn and the nights grow longer, the Kankakee Valley Park District is gearing up for a Halloween celebration that promises thrills and chills. The Halloween Glow Pickleball event is set to take place this Tuesday at the Recreation Center, located at 150 N. Indiana Ave.

Families and friends are encouraged to wear their most creative costumes for a night filled with laughter and friendly competition. “This year we are hoping for a good turnout,” said Aaron Denton, athletic manager at Kankakee Valley Park District.

It’s an invitation to embrace the spirit of Halloween while engaging in one of the fastest-growing sports in the area. The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. and run until 10 p.m., with a cost of just $10 per participant. There’s no need to pre-register, making it easy for everyone to join in the fun.

Attendees can look forward to delicious treats provided throughout the evening, creating a festive atmosphere for all ages. While limited pickleball paddles will be available, participants are encouraged to bring their equipment to ensure a seamless experience.

This event is proudly sponsored by Albanese Candy, adding a sweet twist to the night’s activities.

As the popularity of pickleball continues to soar, Kankakee County is witnessing a surge in new courts. Recently, work has been progressing at Ed Hayes Park on the north side of Bourbonnais, where construction on four new pickleball courts began in July. Bourbonnais Public Works Superintendent Terry Memenga revealed that the project is expected to cost around $400,000.

Meanwhile, Manteno is also undergoing upgrades, with new pickleball courts being developed in Thies Park. As communities embrace this paddle-based sport, the Halloween Glow Pickleball event serves as a perfect reminder of the fun and fitness that pickleball can offer.
