Colwood Rallies for New Pickleball Courts, West Shore Parks and Rec’s Latest Project

Colwood rallies for new pickleball courts: West Shore Parks and Recreation has announced the development of six new outdoor pickleball courts at the Colwood location, marking a significant step forward for the pickleball players.

Proposal Process Initiated

During the board of directors meeting held in June, the board directed staff to initiate the request for proposal (RFP) process for the construction of these pickleball courts. This move shows the organization’s commitment to enhancing recreational facilities for residents.

Financial Implications

Importantly, the construction of the pickleball courts will not necessitate any additional tax requisitions and will not affect next year’s budget.

The project will be financed through funds allocated from the general capital works reserve, ensuring that it can proceed without imposing a financial burden on the community.

Location and Accessibility

The new pickleball courts will replace the existing beach volleyball courts situated next to the tennis courts at the West Shore Parks and Recreation property, located at 1767 Island Highway.

This location was selected due to its distance from residential areas, along with the availability of parking and nearby washrooms, making it an ideal spot for recreational activities.
