Duluth’s Glow-in-the-Dark Pickleball Fundraiser Celebrates Cancer Survivors

Duluth’s Glow-in-the-Dark Pickleball Fundraiser by the Duluth Area Pickleball Association, turning the Duluth Indoor Sports Center into a vibrant hub for both fun and philanthropy. This annual gathering brought together a community of players for a cause that transcends the game itself.

A Celebration of Survival

On Friday night, the atmosphere buzzed with energy as approximately 100 members participated in the festivities, engaging in spirited matches that glowed under black lights. The event, a brainchild of organizer Sophie Lohn, aims to honor breast cancer survivors and spread awareness about the disease.

“I am a breast cancer survivor and this is my anniversary of being cancer-free for two years. Every year I throw an event honoring all of the breast cancer survivors, and I just thought what a great way to celebrate.” – Sophie Lohn

Her dedication to the cause resonates through the community, making this event more than just a game—it’s a celebration of resilience.

Supporting a Worthy Cause

All ticket proceeds from the glow-in-the-dark pickleball event will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, further solidifying the association’s commitment to supporting those affected by breast cancer.

With laughter, camaraderie, and the spirit of giving filling the air, the Duluth Area Pickleball Association once again demonstrated that sports can be a powerful platform for change and awareness.
