Pickleball Bliss Returns to Austin: The Other Racquet Social Club in Austin is set to reopen its doors on November 1, much to the excitement of pickleball enthusiasts who have been eagerly awaiting its return. After navigating a challenging summer filled with city permitting complications, the venue is ready to get back in the game, bringing along a new culinary offering: Bill’s Dips, a food truck from the popular downtown eatery Bill’s Oyster.
A Home for Pickleball Lovers
Originally opened in late 2023 as a members-only establishment, Other Racquet Social Club quickly became a hub for pickleball aficionados. By early 2024, it transitioned to a more inclusive model, welcoming the public to enjoy its courts and lively atmosphere. Members still enjoy certain perks, but the venue’s appeal extends to all who wish to experience pickleball in a vibrant setting.
“It’s been a hell of a journey, but we’re grateful to be reopening our bar after being closed for seven months,” said Other Racquet owner Matt Wolski in a press release. Wolski, who has a track record of success with other local ventures like Idle Hands and Victory Lap, understands the pulse of Austin’s sports culture.
“This process has been challenging to say the least, but the goal from the beginning was to have Other Racquet fill a need on our strip of Manor,” Wolski emphasized. “We wanted a space where everyone can enjoy not only pickleball but also great food and drinks in a welcoming, laid-back environment.”
A New Flavor in the Mix
As Other Racquet reopens, the introduction of Bill’s Dips adds a unique flavor to the experience. Known for its classic comfort fare, Bill’s Dips will offer an enticing menu that includes the highly popular Bill’s Burger, chili cheese dogs, queso blanco, and soft-serve dipped cones. This new food truck will enhance the experience for players looking to refuel after a competitive pickleball match.
“Our Bill’s Burger has become a fan favorite,” said Bill’s Oyster managing partner Dylan Salisbury. “We wanted to create a standalone destination where our guests could conveniently get their burger fix in East Austin. Parking at Other Racquet felt like a natural segue for our guests that come into Bill’s, and we were able to create a menu that reflects the laid-back vibes of the space.”
Operating Hours and Accessibility
Located at 2717 Manor Rd., Other Racquet Social Club aims to accommodate a wide range of pickleball players and fans. The venue will operate Mondays to Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The cocktail bar will follow similar hours but will close an hour earlier, except on weekends. Bill’s Dips will serve dinner on Thursdays and Fridays, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays, ensuring that guests have access to delicious food whenever they visit.
