Local Pickleball Players Conquer Pickleball Tournaments: Local pickleball players recently showed their skills at two major tournaments, drawing participants from across the region. In Newburgh, Indiana, players gathered for the Rivertown Pickleball Annual Fall Battle in the Burgh, held from October 25 to 27. This exciting event took place at the newly opened New Rivertown Pickleball complex, which boasts a state-of-the-art CushionX surface provided by Acrytech.
With 217 entries, the pickleball tournament featured a round-robin format across various divisions, including 3.0 to 4.0 levels for players of any age and those aged 50 and older.
The competition was fierce, yet two local players stood out in the 3.5 Men’s Doubles 50+ division. Kent Cadwell and Jason Bell went undefeated throughout the tournament, claiming the gold medal and proving their mettle on the court.
Winnie Smee and Melissa Dumas participated in their first tournament since moving up to the 4.0 Women’s Division. The pair impressed onlookers with a commendable fourth-place finish, showing that their hard work and determination were paying off.
Springfield Hosts Fieldhouse Hallowdink Tournament
Meanwhile, another group of local players ventured to Springfield, Missouri, to compete in the Fieldhouse Hallowdink tournament. Held at the Fieldhouse Sportscenter & Ozark Pickleball Club, this pickleball event featured 12 indoor courts and attracted 94 participants. They faced off in women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles, all following a round robin format.
Among the competitors, Chad Hunt and Leigh Toby shone brightly, securing a silver medal in the 4.0 mixed doubles division. Their performance added to the local pickleball community’s pride and highlighted the depth of talent present.
