Sierra Sport Club’s Pickleball Event: The Sierra Sport and Racquet Club is set to welcome its largest-ever crowd for the third annual California Pickleball Classic from November 1-3. With over 180 participants registered as of October 23, this year’s tournament will see players competing for a record-breaking $9,000 cash prize, marking a notable increase aimed at drawing top talent from across the western United States.

Open Play Day Kicks Off Event

Kicking off the tournament festivities, November 1 will feature a free open play session for anyone, including non-members of the Sierra Sport and Racquet Club. Non-members must fill out a waiver to participate in this introductory event.

During open play, Tap House and Firestone Walker Brewery will provide food and drinks on-site, adding a social and welcoming atmosphere to the club’s grounds.

Competitive Play Across Divisions

On November 2 and 3, pickleball tournament will begin with multiple divisions tailored to different age groups and skill levels. The event’s divisions range from 3.0 to 4.5, each catering to specific skill sets as outlined by US Pickleball standards.

At the entry-level 3.0 division, players show a basic grasp of pickleball fundamentals, including court positioning, rules, and scoring, while competing in tournaments. The highest skill level in the tournament is the 4.5 division, where players are expected to have solid footwork, strategic adaptability, and advanced partner coordination.

These players show expertise in moving across the court, “stacking” with their partner, and effectively countering opponents’ strategies. This broad range of divisions is designed to give emerging and seasoned players a chance to compete and show their skills.

Fresno State Pickleball Club to Benefit from Proceeds

This year, all tournament proceeds will benefit the Fresno State Pickleball Club, helping fund the club’s participation in national tournaments. This commitment to the Fresno State Pickleball Club strengthens the connection between local players and the broader pickleball community, ensuring continued growth and competition opportunities.
