Vermont’s Pickleball Scene Just Got a Major Boost at The EDGE

Vermont’s Pickleball Scene Just Got a Major Boost: As pickleball rapidly gains popularity nationwide, one South Burlington fitness center is embracing the trend, establishing itself as Vermont’s largest venue dedicated to the sport.

The EDGE in South Burlington has been evolving to meet the needs of Vermont’s pickleball community. Zack Dupont, director of pickleball at The EDGE, shared the facility’s vision, saying, “We’re super excited to kind of accommodate all kinds of players.” In response to growing demand, their Twin Oaks Terrace location now boasts “nine fully climate-controlled, state-of-the-art indoor courts,” complementing the eight outdoor courts that opened in July.

Expanding Space for Pickleball Enthusiasts

This expansion addresses the limited space previously available at The EDGE’s Eastwood site, where the facility had only four courts. Dupont noted that demand quickly outpaced supply, with “three hundred members on with a waitlist of two hundred.” Driven by this high interest, The EDGE transformed an old workout space into a pickleball haven, creating a venue that players can enjoy year-round, rain or shine.

A New Home for the Fitness Facility

In addition to pickleball upgrades, The EDGE ensured that its fitness clients remained a priority. All gym equipment from the original location was transferred to a new state-of-the-art fitness center at Eastwood. Dupont commented on the transition, explaining, “It’s an opportunity to rebuild for both departments, right? And everyone has adapted really well and accepted it really well.” The thoughtful redesign has allowed The EDGE to cater to both its pickleball enthusiasts and fitness members without compromising on quality.

Community, Clinics, and Competition

The EDGE now offers a range of programs tailored for pickleball players of all skill levels. From leagues and clinics to private lessons and open play sessions, the fitness center has something for everyone. Dupont mentioned that memberships are actively being filled, though space remains limited. For those interested, The EDGE will be hosting an open house at the Twin Oaks Terrace location on November 15 and 16, giving prospective members a chance to experience the facility firsthand.

Open House Invitation

The upcoming open house event will feature open play sessions for players at every level, as well as refreshments from local favorite El Gato Cantina and a fully stocked bar. Dupont concluded, “Come out, come play with us, we’d love to have you guys.” Detailed information about the open house, memberships, and other programming is available on The EDGE’s website.
