Topeka’s Pickleball Tournament Serves Up Change and Community Impact

Topeka’s Pickleball Tournament: In a world where many families struggle to afford essentials like new shoes for their children, Sole Reason has stepped up to provide a solution through an engaging community event—a pickleball tournament.

A Mission with Heart

Founded in 2016 by Jerry Hudgins, Sole Reason has made it its mission to ensure that children have proper footwear. “Our motto has always been sneakers on feet and smiles on faces,” Hudgins explained during his visit to Eye on Northeast Kansas. Since its inception, the organization has successfully provided more than 9,000 pairs of sneakers to children in need, demonstrating a profound commitment to making a difference in their lives.

Tournament Details

The upcoming Sneakers & Smiles Pickleball Tournament is set to take place on November 9 at Hughes Park, located at 725 SW Orleans Street. Registration opens at 8 a.m., with play scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, Hudgins indicated that a backup location would be announced to ensure that the tournament proceeds smoothly.
