New Pickleball Courts Coming to Natick Mall: A new pickleball facility is set to open at the Natick Mall later this month, aiming to establish itself as a premier destination for pickleball players across New England. The facility, aptly named Bosse, is the vision of former professional tennis player D.J. Bosse and award-winning Boston chef Chris Coombs.
Bosse Sports has forged partnerships with DraftKings, a Boston-based sports betting giant, and Franklin Sports, a Stoughton-based company recognized for producing the official ball used in USA Pickleball. This collaboration is expected to enhance the overall experience for visitors to the facility.
DraftKings Sports Lounge and Dining Experience
The partnership with DraftKings will see the establishment of the Bosse Sports Lounge, a 21-and-older venue designed to provide a unique sports bar and dining experience. This lounge will prominently feature DraftKings branding and will host various promotions throughout the year, alongside live sports broadcast on a large video wall.
The new facility, spanning 97,000 square feet in the former Neiman Marcus space, will host 21 indoor pickleball courts, complemented by dining spaces, private rooms, and a state-of-the-art fitness center spread across two floors.
Additional amenities will include electronic darts, a golf simulator, and a dedicated sports theater. Chris Coombs, also serving as Bosse’s chief operating officer, highlighted the lounge’s appeal, stating,
“We want to optimize the consumption of sports at the 21-plus lounge. We worked tirelessly and we’re excited for it. It’s gonna be a fun place.” – (Chris Coombs)
Chris Coombs, renowned for his acclaimed French restaurant, Deuxave, in Boston, is also a co-founder of Boston Urban Hospitality, which developed Boston Chops in the South End and downtown Boston.
Culinary Offerings and Additional Partnerships
The Bosse Sports Lounge will be one of four planned dining options within the facility. It will join Bosse Enoteca, which will specialize in artisanal pizzas, gourmet dishes, and an extensive selection of fine wines. Chris Coombs noted the inclusion of a French café and courtside dining adjacent to the pickleball courts, promising a multifaceted dining experience.
Furthermore, Bosse’s collaboration with Franklin Sports is expected to elevate the facility’s offerings. Franklin Sports, which holds approximately 80% of the market share in pickleball-related products, will provide a wide array of items, including paddles, ball retrievers, caddies, hoppers, training devices, and accessories.
“Bosse will be the premier indoor pickleball facility in the country.” said Franklin Sports President Adam Franklin, who also mentioned that the pro shop will feature Franklin performance apparel and pickleball footwear, along with a newly developed glow-in-the-dark paddle.
A Unique Entertainment Destination
The Bosse pickleball facility will complement other innovative concepts at the Natick Mall that blend entertainment with high-quality dining.
The recent addition of Puttshack, which combines miniature golf with a dynamic dining experience, as well as options like Level 99 and Dave & Buster’s, which offer professional culinary expertise alongside arcade games and escape rooms, indicates a trend toward experiential entertainment.
The grand opening of Bosse is anticipated in mid-November, promising to be a game-changer for pickleball players and food lovers.
