New Pickleball Courts Bring Clinton Together at Royal Lane- A Fresh Space for Fun

New Pickleball Courts Bring Clinton Together: In a ceremony on Friday, Clinton’s Royal Lane Park officially opened its new multi-purpose courts, a project set to enhance recreational opportunities by combining facilities for tennis and pickleball. The ribbon-cutting event, attended by city officials, community members, and local organization representatives, showed Clinton’s commitment to promoting fitness, community involvement, and recreation diversity.

Community Leaders Celebrate Project Completion

Garrett Bryant, the director of Clinton’s Recreation and Parks Department, led the celebration, expressing gratitude for the community’s support.

“Thank you everyone for showing up today. It took a while to make this happen, and I appreciate everyone’s support for our community. This wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our staff, the community, and the people who showed unwavering support.” – (Garrett Bryant)

Avery LeClear of the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce echoed Garrett Bryant’s sentiment, speaking to the courts’ potential to benefit the community.

“This is an incredible addition to our area. I’m so excited to see how much joy and activity these courts will bring. Thank you to everyone involved, and congratulations to the community for this great accomplishment.” – (Avery LeClear)

A New Space for Active Play and Community Bonding

After the formalities, attendees were invited to test out the courts. Among the first to play was Judy Anderson, a regular pickleball player with a background in tennis. She even joined Bryant for a quick match, delighting the crowd with her skilled gameplay.

“I just couldn’t miss this. I love both tennis and pickleball — they’re fantastic ways to stay active and have fun with friends. I actually started with tennis, but pickleball has become my new favorite. It’s a wonderful workout and such a fun way to connect with others.” – (Judy Anderson)

The new facility caters to beginners and seasoned players, encouraging friendly competition and social interaction. While tennis brings a more traditional athletic approach, pickleball offers a fast-paced game accessible to a wider age range, ensuring enjoyment for all.

Future Tournaments and Expanding Recreational Opportunities

With the courts now ready, Bryant emphasized that the Recreation Department aims to hold tennis and pickleball tournaments by early spring, further establishing Clinton as a hub for these sports. The tournaments are intended to foster camaraderie while providing a competitive outlet for local players.

“It’s wonderful to have everyone here for the grand opening. We’re constantly working to improve our park and create spaces where people can stay fit, socialize, and enjoy each other’s company. With these courts, we hope to bring more people together, whether they’re playing tennis, pickleball, or both.” – (Garrett Bryant)

Royal Lane Park’s new pickleball courts not only cater to today’s sports trends but also affirm the city’s commitment to enhancing community life. The pickleball courts are ready to become a central gathering space for residents, encouraging an active lifestyle in a welcoming environment.

“This is more than just a game or two, it’s about connecting people, staying active, and strengthening our sense of community.” – (Avery LeClear)
