New Pickleball Courts in Westlake Village: Westlake Village’s long-awaited pickleball courts, a $1 million investment, opened their doors on November 15, and judging by the immediate response, they couldn’t have arrived at a better time. The courts, located at Westlake Village Community Park, quickly became a hub of activity, with eager players forming lines and the unmistakable sound of paddles striking balls filling the air.
A Momentous Opening
“Let the games begin!” Westlake City Councilmember Brad Halpern exclaimed during last week’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. The excitement was palpable, as the new courts immediately captured the attention of the community.
Situated on a repurposed parking lot at the northwest corner of Lindero Canyon Road and Thousand Oaks Boulevard, the courts are the latest addition to a broader vision for the area—a vision that began over two decades ago.
Part of an expansive 20-year plan, the courts were built to complement the other recreational facilities in the 18-acre Westlake Village Community Park, which opened in 2018. The YMCA, which occupies part of the site, followed a year later.

A Community-Centered Vision
The pickleball courts were a dream in the making, and the idea came about through collaboration and foresight.
“When we got this property from the YMCA about six years ago, our thought was that we could put this parking lot to a much better use than for just parking cars, and we arrived at the pickleball solution knowing it’s such a popular sport.” – (City Councilmember, Kelly Honig)
The decision to dedicate the space to pickleball speaks to the sport’s explosive rise in popularity—something local officials are eager to embrace. As the pickleball courts fill with players, both seasoned and new, it’s clear that Westlake Village’s commitment to this fast-growing sport is already paying off.
“This is a really special day for the City of Westlake Village and our residents. We wanted to bring another asset to our residents up here at this very beautiful park, which has so much to offer, and now one more thing.” – (Honig)
