Park City Rolls Out New Indoor Pickleball Court Strategy: Starting November 25, Park City will introduce a new plan to meet the growing demand for indoor pickleball courts. With only seven indoor courts available during the winter, it has become challenging to balance court time between pickleball and tennis. The city’s Recreation Advisory Board (RAB) and Court-Usage Subcommittee have worked together to create a solution that ensures fair access for all players, with a particular focus on optimizing the use of indoor pickleball courts.
As pickleball continues to surge in popularity, especially during peak hours, Park City’s new plan aims to give players more opportunities to secure court time. The city is committed to providing designated times for both tennis and pickleball, ensuring that players can enjoy their game without frustration. This new scheduling system is designed to make the overall experience smoother and more organized for everyone.
Revised Scheduling Plan for Indoor Courts
The core of the new plan is dedicated scheduling blocks for pickleball and tennis. During peak hours, each sport will have exclusive time on the courts, preventing any overlap. The city’s memo explains, “Either sport will occupy the entire bubble at their dedicated time,” making sure that pickleball players have access to the courts when they need them most.
By implementing this scheduling system, Park City hopes to better accommodate pickleball players and reduce overcrowding. Clayton Scrivner, the city’s communications manager, stated, “Both user groups are expected to fill courts during prime time,” ensuring that indoor pickleball courts are used effectively and players get the space they need.
Free Play and Further Developments for Pickleball
To enhance the pickleball experience even further, Park City will offer free morning play from 6–8 a.m. on select days. Pickleball players will have free access to the courts on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, while tennis players can enjoy free play on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This initiative encourages players to take advantage of quieter times and enjoy pickleball without the usual crowds.
Looking ahead, the city is also considering long-term options to expand its pickleball facilities. One exciting possibility is a new pickleball complex at Quinn’s Junction. If approved, this new facility would offer more dedicated space for pickleball, alleviating pressure on existing courts and providing players with even more opportunities to enjoy their sport.
News in Brief: Park City Rolls Out New Indoor Pickleball Court Strategy
Park City’s new indoor pickleball court strategy addresses the increasing demand for court space. The revised scheduling plan gives pickleball players fair access to the courts, and the free play sessions provide added opportunities. The city is also exploring the possibility of a new pickleball facility at Quinn’s Junction. These changes are a step toward ensuring Park City remains a top destination for pickleball enthusiasts. Players are encouraged to stay informed through app notifications and make the most of the new system to enjoy the sport they love.
