Pickleball Tournament Format: Details on Brackets and Events
The pickleball event will have a round-robin format for amateur events with more than 2 games guaranteed. Pro/open level events will use double elimination with best 2 out of 3 games to 11 in the winners bracket and one game to 15 in the consolation bracket.
Teams can still make it to the gold medal match from the consolation bracket. If there are fewer than 4 teams in any bracket, those brackets will be combined. Brackets may also be combined by skill level if necessary.
- Amateur Events: Round Robin format, top teams advance to playoffs.
- Pro/Open Events: Double elimination (best 2 out of 3 games)
- Consolation Bracket: One game to 15
- Combined Brackets: Skill levels and age groups may be merged if not enough teams are registered.
- Guarantee: More than 2 games for each amateur team.
Prize Money Breakdown: Payouts for 4.5+ Divisions
For 4.5+ open events, $35 from each entrant’s fee will go towards the prize pool. The total prize money will be distributed as follows:
- Gold Medalists: 60% of the prize pool
- Silver Medalists: 25% of the prize pool
- Bronze Medalists: 15% of the prize pool
For example, if there are 50 players (25 teams), the total prize money for a division will be $1,750, with payouts as follows:
- Gold: $1,050
- Silver: $437.50
- Bronze: $262.50
- Prize Money: $35 per entrant goes towards the prize pool for 4.5+ divisions
- Prize Distribution: Gold (60%), Silver (25%), Bronze (15%)
Additional Tournament Information and Requirements
- Players must self-rate their skill level, ensuring they do not compete in a lower division than their actual skill.
- Players over 50 years old can play in either the 50+ bracket or the any age bracket.
