Pickleball Tournament in Klamath Falls: The Merry Christmas Team Challenge is set to bring the holiday spirit to Klamath Falls, Oregon, from December 5 to December 22, 2024. This tournament offers an exciting team pickleball format, allowing players to compete while raising funds for a noble cause. The event, organized by the Klamath Basin Pickleball Association (KBPA), will support school grants, providing paddles, nets, and balls to schools every year.
Tournament Format and Structure
The tournament will feature MiLP (Minor League Pickleball) teams, each consisting of two females and two males. Matches will include women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and two mixed doubles games. If necessary, a tie-breaker match will follow. Rally scoring will be used to 21 points. Teams will compete within divisions based on their combined DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) scores, with each division having a maximum allowed score variation of +0.3.
Divisions available include 12, 14, 16, and 18, with the total DUPR score of your team’s players determining the division. For example, a team with scores of 3.5, 3.5, 3.45, and 3.75 would fall into the 14 division, while 3.65, 3.75, 3.75, and 3.50 would be in the 16 division.
Important Dates and Times
Matches will be scheduled on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons at Harbor Isles. The following dates will be included in the tournament:
- December 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, and 22
Each match day will have three courts reserved:
- Thursday evenings: 5:30 – 7:00 PM
- Sunday afternoons: 1:00 – 2:30 PM and 2:30 – 4:00 PM
Each team will be assigned at least one playtime per week. If a player is unavailable, teams can bring in a substitute with a similar or lower DUPR rating.
How to Participate
To enter, players must be KBPA members and follow the required steps to set up accounts on DUPR and SWISH, then link them on their SWISH profile.
