The pickleball event features mixed team rallies and doubles formats. It offers players the chance to compete in various brackets, including a Senior (50+) Gender Doubles on Friday, December 6, and an All-Age Gender Doubles event on Saturday, December 7.
Team Format: Mixed Team Rally
The competition is structured as a Team Rally format, with teams of four players (two women and two men) competing against each other in a series of events. Matches are played with a combination of women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and two mixed doubles games. A tie at 2-2 after the four games will lead to a singles tiebreaker between one player from each team. The scoring system requires players to score on their serve to win, with rally scoring employed throughout.
Doubles Format: Team Registration & Scoring
For the doubles bracket, teams are created by combining the ratings of two players. If a player does not have a DUPR rating, their rating will be calculated based on their partner’s rating. All matches are played with rally scoring, with games to 21 points and a two-point win margin. The competition includes a round robin format, followed by a double-elimination bracket. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of five games.
State Championship Cup Scoring System
Participants earn points for their team based on their final standing in gender doubles and team events. The points are allocated based on the results in each event, with the team that scores the most points across all brackets ultimately winning the State Championship Cup. Points are awarded as follows:
- 1st place: 20 points
- 2nd place: 16 points
- 3rd place: 14 points
- 4th place: 12 points
- 5th place: 10 points
- 6th place: 8 points
- 7th place: 6 points
- 8th place: 4 points
- 9th place: 2 points
- 10th or lower: 1 point
Teams must have at least 10 entries per bracket for full prize money to be awarded. The overall winners of the Championship Cup will split a $2,000 prize purse, with $1,000 awarded to the team in each age division.
DUPR Division Breakdown
The event is split into several DUPR divisions, with each team’s aggregate DUPR rating determining eligibility for the respective brackets. Players’ ratings are locked once they register for the team event, meaning changes in individual ratings will not affect the team’s division placement. At least three out of four players on a team must have an established DUPR rating to compete.
Substitute Players & Refunds
Teams needing a substitute player can make changes to their lineup either through the Swish platform or by submitting the information directly to the tournament organizer. Substitutes must not cause the team’s rating to exceed the maximum allowed for the event.
For those who need to cancel their registration, refunds are available (minus a 10% fee) if the cancellation request is made at least 15 days before the event starts. Single registrations, where players are not placed on a team, are fully refunded.
