The park district’s narrative submitted to the plan commission states that the addition of the courts meets the village’s code for “open space and passive recreation uses” within the CR Conservation/Recreation District. Village regulations allow such recreational activities only through a special use permit.

A key concern for residents, noise, is addressed in the park district’s plan, which suggests that the sound will be mitigated by the distance to the nearest neighborhood, about 500 feet away, as well as a woodland buffer surrounding the site.
