Dunkirk Park Complex Brings Pickleball: The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation has unveiled a newly completed tennis and pickleball court complex at Dunkirk District Park. After construction commenced in October 2023, the project has come to fruition, offering residents and visitors a state-of-the-art facility. This addition includes five tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, and amenities such as lighting, restrooms, and extra parking spaces.
A Community-Focused Development
Bob Branham, the Director of Calvert County Parks & Recreation, expressed the department’s excitement about the completion of the court complex.
“With the completion of this court complex, we’re not just adding tennis and pickleball courts; we’re adding a place for connection, wellness, physical activity, and a place for all in our community to enjoy.”-(Bob Branham).
The new complex is seen as a valuable community resource for social interaction and physical well-being.
Court Availability and Reservations
Three dedicated tennis courts and four pickleball courts are now open for use on a first-come, first-served basis, as long as they haven’t been reserved in advance. Meanwhile, the multi-use courts, which are still undergoing curing, are expected to be ready for play in January 2025.
