Ripon Community Center Enhances Pickleball Courts: The Ripon Community Center’s tennis courts are set to undergo a significant upgrade with the addition of four new pickleball nets. The Ripon City Council approved the purchase of four Douglas PPS-22SQ Premiere Portable Pickleball Net Systems at a cost not to exceed $10,339, with funding from the Parks and Recreation Capital Fund.
Council Approves Purchase for Pickleball Upgrade
The purchase, approved during a meeting on Tuesday, includes posts, base frames, hardware, a transporter, and netting to complete the portable pickleball net systems. These additions are designed to enhance the multi-use courts, making them adaptable for both tennis and pickleball.
Contract Awarded to Consolidated Engineering
Consolidated Engineering, Inc. received the contract to carry out the necessary work on the tennis courts, following the City Council’s October 8 meeting. The project is part of a broader improvement plan to revitalize the tennis courts, which had surpassed their useful life and required replacement.
Court Improvements and Multi-Sport Accessibility
As part of the upgrade, the courts will be striped to accommodate tennis and pickleball, with space for four regulation tennis courts and eight pickleball courts. While the tennis netting system will be permanent, the pickleball nets will be portable, allowing for easy setup and removal.
“The tennis netting system that is being installed is permanent, but the pickleball net system is planned to be portable so anyone can move the netting system into and out of place on the courts.” – (staff report)
