Temporary Pickleball Courts Coming to Park City Film Studio by February 2025!

Pickleball Courts coming to Park City will lease a bay at the Utah Film Studio in Quinns Junction to create six pickleball courts. The city hopes to open the temporary facility by February 2025 to meet the growing demand for pickleball and free up space for tennis at the PC MARC. The lease will run through April, with the possibility of future agreements.

Temporary Solution for High Demand

The city’s recreation department has faced challenges balancing pickleball and tennis court space. To address the problem, Park City plans to install portable bathrooms and courts inside the studio bay.

Supporting Both Sports

Park City Councilmember Jeremy Rubell explained that this move aims to satisfy the high demand for pickleball while ensuring tennis players also have enough space.

“We’re not just doing something for pickleball. We’re doing something for tennis and pickleball if this works.” – (Rubell)

“The discussion about court allocation and who’s getting time when, has taken up more time and talk than any other subject that we’ve had over the years. There’s been a lot of public demand, and as you know, desire for a facility. And I think ultimately, it’s a potentially creative way for us to try to meet that need.” – (Fisher)

Approval and Future Plans

The city will seek planning commission approval in January 2025 before moving forward with the plan. If successful, all pickleball operations will shift to the new location. This temporary solution may pave the way for more permanent facilities in the future.
