Lackawanna County Pickleball Classic: Dozens of players gathered at the Birchwood Racquet Club in South Abington Township on Saturday for the first-ever Lackawanna County Pickleball Classic. The event, sponsored by the county commissioners, the racquet club, and the parks and recreation department, highlighted the growing interest in pickleball within the region.

Pickleball has been increasing in popularity across the area, and the county wants to get involved and offer activities and sports that are important to the people that live in the county and Northeastern Pennsylvania,”(Paul Bechtel, Lackawanna County Director of Parks and Recreation).
Giving Back to the Community
Proceeds from the Pickleball Classic will benefit two local organizations: the Boys and Girls Clubs of Scranton and the Green House Project in Lackawanna County. This pickleball event aimed not only to promote pickleball but also to support meaningful community initiatives.
