Community and Inclusion in Pickleball
Brittiney Harris, the program director at the YMCA, noted that newcomers often inquire about the sport. She reassures them, saying,
“[Newcomers] ask about pickleball and if it’s hard or competitive. And I’m like, ‘everybody’s able to play with everybody.’” – (Harris)

A Sport for All Ages
Lou and Bev Foster, both in their 80s, have played pickleball for 15 years. They have switched from tennis to this engaging sport, finding it suits their active lifestyle. Lou stated, “It’s just really good for people like us getting a little bit older.” Their commitment to the game is inspiring, especially when considering Bev’s quick recovery from a wrist injury.

Bev’s doctor praised her for recovering quickly, noting, “There are 60-year-olds who are like 80-year-olds. I was more like a 60-year-old, and he was really glad he was able to fix my wrist so quickly after I broke it.”

Harris emphasized the importance of stretching in any fitness routine, especially for those looking to improve their health in the new year.
