The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) has launched a new tournament series called the APP Breakthrough Series. It will begin in 2025 and will be held in five cities across the United States. This new event is designed to help up-and-coming pro and amateur players improve their skills and move closer to joining the APP Tour. The first tournament will take place in Boise, Idaho, from September 4 to 7.

A New Opportunity for Players at All Levels
The APP Breakthrough Series gives newer pro players and amateur players a chance to compete at a high level. Like the APP Tour, these tournaments are open to all skill levels, from 3.0 up to aspiring professional players. Players of all ages can join, and the tournaments will have different bracket types.
Unlike regular APP Tour events, these matches will not be shown on TV or livestreamed. However, participants can still earn ranking points, prize money, and a chance to qualify for the APP Tour.

APP Founder Ken Herrmann said the goal is to give more players access to quality tournaments and support their growth.
