Association of Pickleball Players Senior Champions: The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) wrapped up the 2025 APP Chicago Open with exciting competition for amateur and senior players. The tournament ran over Labor Day weekend at Danny Cunniff Park in Highland Park. Crowds enjoyed matches in amateur, AARP Champions (50+), and AARP Masters (60+) divisions.

AARP Champions Division (50+)

In the AARP Champions Division, Lee Whitwell won three gold medals, taking women’s singles, women’s doubles with Angela Simon, and mixed doubles with Jaime Oncins. Youssef Bouzidi captured the men’s singles title. Jaime Oncins also teamed with Marcello Jardim to win men’s doubles gold.

AARP Masters Division (60+)

In the AARP Masters Division, Lupita Curiel won the women’s singles title, and Howard Mendel won the men’s singles crown. Heather Iffert and John Moorin claimed mixed doubles gold. Yannet Brister and Kelly Ojeda won the women’s doubles title, while Dan Granot and Scott Moore captured men’s doubles gold.
