MiLP’s Growth Reaches Canada
Following successful expansions into multiple regions, MiLP is now focusing on Canada’s growing pickleball community. The league guarantees matches in a structured, engaging format that appeals to players of all levels. Yui See Lau has been appointed as the Director of Minor League Pickleball Canada, leading the effort to grow the league across the country.
Lau, who previously introduced MiLP to China, brings extensive experience and enthusiasm to the role. He will oversee all MiLP events in Canada, working with clubs, players, and partners to create high-quality competitions.
“Pickleball’s growth in Canada has been phenomenal, and MiLP is thrilled to provide a competitive yet inclusive format that fosters community, teamwork, and high-level play,” -(Yui See Lau)
The first Events Set for April
MiLP Canada will kick off with two major events:
- April 5 – MiLP IPOP at Inclusive Place of Pickleball (IPOP), Burnaby, BC
- April 26 – MiLP HiSports Vaughan, Concord, ON
These tournaments will follow MiLP’s signature format, featuring mixed teams of four players—two men and two women—competing in divisions based on their combined DUPR rating. Teams will play in a round-robin format, with each match consisting of four 21-point games: two gendered and two mixed doubles matches.
Lau is confident Canadian players will embrace the team-based structure.
“I’m thrilled to bring Minor League Pickleball to Canada and help grow the game in a country with such a passionate sports community,
After witnessing the excitement that Minor League Pickleball generated in China, I’m one hundred percent certain that Canadian players will also embrace this unique team format.”-(Yui See Lau)
