Pickleball Cocktails by Grand Rapids Hotel: This past weekend, Grand Rapids, Michigan welcomed some of the globe’s finest pickleball players for the prestigious Grand Rapids Beer City Open Pickleball Championships. AHC Hospitality, proud sponsors of the event and owners of the historic Amway Grand Plaza Made every effort to provide excellent accommodations for participants.

The Amway Grand Plaza’s four RoofTop Pickleball courts have strengthened its reputation as a premier pickleball destination in the city. Both pros and amateurs have the chance to test their skills on the hotel’s outdoor courts situated on the Wellness Floor.

In celebration of the Beer City Open’s spirit, the hotel is launching signature craft cocktails that creatively play on pickleball themes, incorporating pickle-infused ingredients. Among the offerings are:

  • Volley Llama: A mezcal gimlet accompanied by pickled peach sorbet, served at the elegant MDRD restaurant on the 27th floor, has stunning views of the Grand River.
  • Briny Backhand Martini: IDC’s twist on a classic dirty vodka martini, infused with a hint of pickle brine, available at the hotel’s speakeasy.
  • Shake and Bake-N: A distinctive whiskey sour featuring bacon-washed bourbon, crafted for enthusiasts at the Lumber Baron Bar.
  • Bainbridge Island Spicy Margarita: A tropical margarita with a spicy kick, paying homage to pickleball’s origins, served at the lively Rendezvous lobby bar.
  • The Erne Smash: A refreshing citrusy cocktail with a delightful rosy hue, thanks to Iron Fish Soft Parade Vodka sourced locally in Grand Rapids, served at Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
  • In the Kitchen: A vodka-based creation made with vanilla coconut cream, available at The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck, promising a crisp and reviving taste.

Apart from the Amway Grand Plaza, AHC Hospitality extends its warm hospitality across its other properties including Curio Collection by Hilton, JW Marriott Grand Rapids, Courtyard by Marriott Grand Rapids Downtown, Hyatt Place Grand Rapids, and AC Hotel by Marriott Downtown Grand Rapids.

The tournament, held from July 9 to July 14 at Belknap Park, is organized by The Grand Rapids Pickleball Club. This year marks a special occasion as Major League Pickleball joins forces with the Beer City Open, hosting their esteemed ‘Mid-Season Tournament.’ All 22 professional pickleball teams will compete for the coveted title of Beer City Open, Major League Pickleball Mid-Season Champion, along with an impressive $200,000 in additional prize money.

Fans can enjoy free admission to the Beer City Open, immersing themselves in exhilarating pickleball matches and also in an exciting atmosphere featuring food trucks, beer tents by Bells Brewery and Michelob Ultra, a liquor tasting room, and local vendors.
