Pickleball’s growing popularity has reached Orlando with the Orlando Squeeze, a team born in 2023. Created by local sports executive Ryan DeVos and other members of the DeVos family, the Squeeze quickly made a mark by winning a championship in their first season. The DeVos family is also known for their long-standing ownership of the Orlando Magic.
The Squeeze’s debut season not only showcased their athletic prowess but also helped boost pickleball’s presence in Central Florida. Off the court, they’ve built a passionate local fan base through events, exhibition matches, and putting Orlando on the pickleball map. The team’s roster includes the world’s No. 1 player, adding to their competitive edge.
Major League Pickleball’s Unique Format
Major League Pickleball has transformed the sport from a backyard pastime to a nationally recognized competition. The league features a co-ed format with women’s and men’s doubles, two mixed doubles games, and a singles tiebreaker called a “dreambreaker.”
With 16 Premier Level teams, the MLP season includes 10 regular-season events, a Mid-Season Tournament, playoffs, and the MLP Cup in November.
