Brooklyn Fights Back
The Brooklyn Pickleball Team responded with a win in mixed doubles. Rachel Rohrabacher and Dekel Bar defeated their opponents, giving Brooklyn hope for a comeback. However, the match quickly shifted back in favor of Texas.
Oncins Shines Under Pressure
With the score at 2-1, the pressure was on for Tina Pisnik and Eric Oncins to secure the win for the Ranchers. They didn’t disappoint, defeating Brooklyn’s Jackie Kawamoto and Riley Newman 11-8 in the final mixed doubles match of the day.
Oncins Dominates Men’s Doubles
Eric Oncins stood out with an impressive performance in men’s doubles alongside Alshon. They dominated Brooklyn’s Newman and Bar, winning 11-2. This was a significant victory, as Oncins and Alshon had recently faced tension in competitive matches on the PPA Tour.
Oncins Addresses Chemistry Concerns
Despite doubts about their on-court chemistry, Oncins was confident in his partnership with Alshon.
“We have really good chemistry. We’ve played a lot against each other—he gets loud, I get loud, so we just put that together and get loud as a team.” – (Oncins)
Season Outlook
The Texas Ranchers’ strong start to the season is promising. Oncins’ performance and the team’s overall chemistry could make them a serious contender in the 2025 Major League Pickleball season.
