New York Hustlers’ MLP Columbus Win: The New York Hustlers claimed their first win of the 2025 Major League Pickleball season with a thrilling DreamBreaker victory over the Phoenix Flames on Friday at Pickle & Chill during the 2025 MLP Columbus, presented by The James at Ohio State.
Tight Battle Leads to Dramatic Singles Showdown
The New York Hustlers team—Zane Ford, Donald Young, Dominique Schaefer, and Helena Spiridis—won dramatically. Zane Ford helped keep the match close with wins in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles events, pushing the match to a DreamBreaker.
In the DreamBreaker, both teams fought hard in singles matchups. The Phoenix Flames were ahead 19-16 after Jack Sock’s performance, putting them close to victory.
But Zane Ford and Dominique Schaefer held their nerve and saved two match points to tie the game. Helena Spiridis then stepped up and defeated Jessie Irvine to secure a 24-22 win.
