Orlando Squeeze Shocks Home Crowd, Snaps Columbus Sliders’ Streak With Dramatic 2025 MLP Columbus Sweep

Orlando Squeeze Wins Against Columbus Sliders: The Orlando Squeeze stopped the Columbus Sliders’ six-match winning streak with a 3-0 sweep on Friday at Pickle & Chill during the 2025 Major League Pickleball season at MLP Columbus, presented by The James at Ohio State.

Squeeze Starts Strong with Doubles Comeback

The match began with a big win for Orlando in women’s doubles. Lacy Schneemann and Samantha Parker trailed 4-9 but fought back to beat Parris Todd and Lea Jansen. That comeback win gave Orlando early energy and set the pace for the rest of the match.

The Squeeze continued to play with strong teamwork and focus. They did not drop a single match and showed their best form so far this season. This win also marked Orlando’s third straight victory, bringing their record to 6-1 with 17 points.

Crowd Pressure Didn’t Shake Orlando

The Columbus Sliders entered the match with a 6-2 record and a loud home crowd backing them. But the Orlando Squeeze stayed calm and united under pressure. Federico Staksrud explained how they stayed focused despite the tough crowd.

“I said to the team before we started that it was going to take a lot of personality and a lot of character to win this match, especially since we were playing against the home crowd. Every time we would make a mistake, every time we would lose a point, we knew they were going to be cheering. We just had to have a lot of character and personality and stay positive and stay together as a team.” – (Staksrud)

That approach worked well, and Orlando stayed sharp from start to finish.

Looking Ahead

The Orlando Squeeze will return to the court on Saturday with matches against the Atlanta Bouncers and the St. Louis Shock. With three wins in a row, Orlando has strong momentum going forward. For the Columbus Sliders, the loss will be a chance to regroup and refocus for their next match.
