D.C. Pickleball Team Dominates MLP Austin: The D.C. Pickleball Team earned their win of the 2025 Major League Pickleball season by beating Florida Smash 3-1 on May 24, 2025. The matches took place at the Austin Pickle Ranch during the ongoing 2025 MLP Austin event. The DreamBreaker round was not needed. D.C. won three of the four matches played.
Strong Start for D.C. in Doubles
The D.C. Pickleball Team began with a solid women’s doubles win. Mari Humberg and Andrea Koop defeated Martina Frantova and Sarah Ansboury 11-6.
Then, in the men’s doubles match, Daniel De La Rosa and Stefan Auvergne gave D.C. a 2-0 lead after beating Cason Campbell and Travis Rettenmaier 11-6.
Florida Fights Back, but D.C. Finishes Strong
Florida Smash got their only win in the first mixed doubles match. Cason Campbell and Martina Frantova beat Stefan Auvergne and Mari Humberg 11-7 to cut D.C.’s lead to 2-1.
However, D.C. closed out the match in the second mixed doubles. Daniel De La Rosa and Andrea Koop defeated Travis Rettenmaier and Sarah Ansboury 11-6, making the DreamBreaker unnecessary.
D.C. Rises in Standings
With this win, the D.C. Pickleball Team now holds a 3-1 record. They showed strong teamwork in every match.
Florida Smash now stands at 1-3. They will need to improve in their next matches to stay competitive in the season. The D.C. Pickleball Team is moving closer to playoff contention.
